With forMemory not only is there emotional support, but the shared information is already increasing the quality of life of its members. We are not people who are sitting back, letting this disease overtake us… we are each fighters, using all we have to attain a better quality of life. You have seen some on the cover of magazines, you have heard many of our stories, we have written books, we have blogs and Websites, we speak at conferences, we have spoken with our legislatures, we hold positions in the Alzheimer’s Association, we have been given awards, we attend local support groups, and we have hugged and supported one another. But by uniting together, doors that were closed are opening. We are setting into motion things that we hope will possibly help us, but for sure help and protect our children and grandchildren.

People with EOAD have played an important part in solving the mysteries behind Alzheimer’s disease. Families with EOAD contributed to early genetic studies because the disease pattern, unfortunately, was seen in multiple generations.

Gabrielle Strobel  posted on Alzforum.org concerning Early Onset and research:

“ A cruel irony for people with early-onset AD is that they are almost completely shut out of such trials... Once they are diagnosed, they receive basically the same treatment from their neurologist as would an AD patient who is 25 years older.. “  www.alzforum.org/eFAD/default.asp

We who are affected by EOA and related diseases want to continue to be a major participant in seeking and finding ways of curing and preventing neurological symptoms. As a united group this is achievable. forMemory has partnered with a researcher who is ready, and has already begun, to work with our group!  He wants to learn from us to better understand this disease and its markers!  Open communication has also been set up between the members of forMemory and our family’s physicians and neurologists.  It is collaborative efforts that have the power to adequately address Early Onset Alzheimer’s and Related Disease. We hope this is one step toward those united efforts.

We are building our team!

forMemory members will continue to be leaders in the search for finding ways of curing and preventing EOAD symptoms.

Special Thoughts from very hopeful families
